BACK TO SCHOOL 2026-2027: 2.8 billion CFA francs allocated for textbooks for first and second grades
Six weeks before the start of the new school year, scheduled for Monday, September 14, 2026, the Beninese government is pulling out all the stops. A budget of 2.8 billion CFA francs has been released to ensure the immediate availability of textbooks for the youngest students.
Gone are the days when the start of the school year began without books or notebooks in the classrooms. To ensure optimal learning conditions from day one, the government has placed orders for educational materials for first and second grades.
This funding will allow for the printing and distribution of:
Activity books in French and mathematics,
Reading booklets designed to reinforce fundamental learning.
To avoid any delivery delays, the contract was awarded to four specialized companies: LAHA Éditions, Point Haut, Imprimerie Papeterie Continentale du Bénin (IPC-B), and Imprimerie Commerce Général (ICG). Their roadmap is clear: all books must be delivered to public primary schools before September 14.
By securing this logistics in advance, the government reaffirms its commitment to ensuring a smooth and equitable start to the school year for every student.
