ANTI-DRUG CRACKDOWN IN COTONOU: 7 People Arrested, Prohibited Products Seized
A targeted operation conducted on Saturday, August 22, 2026, by the 1st arrondissement police station of Cotonou dismantled a point of sale and consumption of prohibited products near the PK3 modern market (new Missèbo).
Around 6:00 PM, law enforcement officers intervened near the area’s drainage channels, where a suspicious gathering had been spotted. The intervention resulted in the arrest of seven individuals including several touts operating in the area who were immediately placed in police custody.
Seizure summary:
Narcotics and illicit substances: Indian hemp pellets, King Royal and King Feu tablets, We Top packaging, as well as Kocha devices.
Cash: 106,125 FCFA, identified as proceeds from the sale of these substances.
All seized items and funds have been placed under seal.
Investigations are ongoing at the 1st arrondissement police station to dismantle the entire network and identify potential organizers. The suspects will be presented to the Public Prosecutor in the coming days.
This raid is part of the Republican Police’s overall strategy to clean up commercial spaces in the economic capital.
