INTERNATIONAL AFRICAN WOMEN’S DAY IN KÉROU: SYKA NGO in Action for a Better Living Environment
To mark International African Women’s Day, celebrated on July 31st, the non-governmental organization SYKA-NGO chose to make a significant impact with a concrete civic action. Under the leadership of its president, Zoumaratou Ali, the team mobilized to carry out a large-scale cleanup of Independence Square in the municipality of Kérou.
Celebrating the leadership and resilience of African women is more than just words. This is the powerful message that the SYKA NGO wanted to convey on July 31st. To honor this symbolic day, the organization’s members rolled up their sleeves to give a fresh look to one of the municipality’s most iconic locations: Independence Square.
Initiated and led by the NGO’s President, Zoumaratou Ali, this cleanup day aimed to highlight the central role women play in environmental preservation and community well-being.
« The cleanliness of our living environment is everyone’s responsibility, and African women know how to lead the way with dignity and determination, » the organization’s President emphasized during the event.
By making this public space clean and welcoming, SYKA-ONG reaffirms its commitment to contributing sustainably to the well-being of local communities by promoting a healthier, more beautiful, and more vibrant community.
This initiative, warmly welcomed by residents and local stakeholders, embodies an active vision of African Women’s Day: that of female leadership expressed through example and direct impact on citizens’ daily lives. A symbolic cleanup, but one deeply meaningful for the future of Kérou.
