HIGHER EDUCATION IN BENIN: National Entrance Exam for Public Schools Launched

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MESRS) is taking action for the 2026 academic year. Through its Chief of Staff, Rogatien Makpéhou Tossou, registration for the national entrance exam for first-year students in Benin’s public schools and institutes is now open.

This exam is open to Beninese citizens who obtained their Baccalaureate in 2026 with at least a « Good » grade.

Candidates must be no older than 21 years of age by December 31, 2026.

Candidates with disabilities are granted a 5-year age exemption and 25% additional time during the exams.

The successful candidates will join one of the specialized training programs located throughout the country:

Health & Paramedical: INMeS, IFSIO

Science, Technology & Management: ENSPD, ENSTIC, ENEAM, INSPEI, IUEP-MA (Djougou)

Sports & Physical Education: INJEPS

Teaching & Vocational Training: ENS Porto-Novo, ENS Natitingou, ENSET Lokossa

To be considered, online registration is mandatory on the official platform www.concours.enseignementsuperieur.gouv.bj before Monday, August 17, 2026, at 5:00 PM.

The physical application files must then be submitted to one of the six designated centers (INMeS Cotonou, IFSIO Parakou, INSPEI Abomey, ENSET Lokossa, ENS Natitingou, ENS Porto-Novo).

The written exams will be held in the main examination centers (CEG and designated high schools) in Cotonou, Abomey, Parakou, Lokossa, Natitingou, and Porto-Novo, according to the following schedule:

Thursday, September 10, 2026: INMeS, IFSIO, ENSPD, ENSTIC, ENEAM, INSPEI, INJEPS, and IUEP-MA.

Friday, September 11, 2026: ENS (Porto-Novo & Natitingou) and ENSET (Lokossa).

For detailed information, candidates are advised to contact the Directorate of Examinations and Competitions (DEC/MESRS), the DBAU, the DGES, or the administration of their chosen school.
