Returning from Nikki where he attended the 2026 edition of the Gaani festival, the President of the Republic, Romuald Wadagni, extended his trip to the northern part of the country with an immersive and close-contact visit to Parakou.

On the evening of Tuesday, August 25, 2026, according to Matin Libre, the Head of State visited the military camp in Parakou to speak directly with the officers and soldiers committed to securing northern Benin. This immersion among the troops aimed to boost the morale of the men and women deployed for territorial defense, while demonstrating to them the Nation’s gratitude and steadfast support.

In a widely shared video, Romuald Wadagni walked along several major thoroughfares of the city during a fitness walk. Dressed in sportswear, the President turned this physical exercise into a privileged moment of direct, relaxed dialogue with local residents.

Throughout his route, the Head of State made numerous stops to meet with citizens:

Youth and Business Owners: Informal conversations about daily life and improvised photo sessions.

Motorcycle Taxi Drivers (« Zémidjans »): Warm greetings and direct discussions with these key actors in urban mobility.

By combining institutional duty toward the troops with active listening to the population, this stay in Parakou allowed the President to take the pulse of the region in an atmosphere of great proximity.
