For several weeks, the town of Klouékanmè had been plagued by burglaries. This spate of crimes has now been brought to an end by officers from the central police station.

Everything changed on the night of Thursday, June 18th to Friday, June 19th, 2026. A mobile phone shop was targeted: 19 brand-new devices vanished. Following up on a promising lead, law enforcement quickly apprehended a 20-year-old rickshaw driver. He was found in possession of a phone stolen during a previous burglary. Under questioning, the suspect confessed.

His statements led the police to a 26-year-old tailor, who was already known to the security services. The search of his home proved fruitful: a large portion of the stolen goods was hidden there. In addition to the phones, officers discovered loincloths, kitchen utensils, sofas, and household appliances. The fraudulent origin of all these items was beyond doubt. Summoned to the police station, several victims have already identified their belongings among the seized items.

The ongoing investigation has also led to a 21-year-old repairman. According to initial findings, this technician was responsible for unlocking the stolen phones to facilitate their resale.

In total, three individuals have been taken into custody. The investigation continues in order to identify other potential victims and apprehend any accomplices still at large. A successful operation to the credit of the Klouékanmè central police station.
