UNIVERSITY OF PARAKOU: 10 Buses deployed for Students
Mobility challenges for students at the University of Parakou (UP) could soon see significant relief. During a press briefing held yesterday, Thursday, in the metropolis of Northern Benin, government spokesman Wilfried Léandre Houngbédji provided a major update regarding the distribution of the vehicle fleet recently acquired by the state for university transport.
Out of a total of 63 new buses received for Benin’s public universities, 10 will be officially allocated to the Parakou campus. This announcement comes in response to an urgent need within the student community, which faces daily commuting constraints between the city’s various neighborhoods and the university grounds. According to the spokesman, La Poste du Bénin is the government’s partner in charge of managing student transport.
However, one uncertainty remains: no exact details have yet been provided regarding the financial terms for accessing this service. The official fares that students will have to pay to board these buses remain unknown for now.
While awaiting the release of the fare structure and the official start of the bus service, students and campus members are hoping for affordable, subsidized rates that will ensure equitable access for all learners.
