AFRICAN CUP OF NATIONS MOROCCO 2025 QUALIFIERS : Burkina Faso secures their spot

With two rounds remaining in the qualifiers, Burkina Faso has become the first nation to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, following host nation Morocco. This qualification was secured thanks to their 2-0 victory over Burundi on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Stadium, in the 4th round of qualifiers.
With a revamped squad for the return leg, Brama Traoré’s men quickly took the lead through a corner headed in by Mohamed Konaté in the fifth minute. It took until stoppage time (90+4) for Bertrand Traoré to seal the victory from the penalty spot.
After a largely dominant first leg (4-1), the Stallions of Burkina Faso confirmed their superiority by winning the bulk of the points in the third and fourth rounds against the Swallows of Burundi, thus securing their 13th participation in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Burkina Faso remains at the top of Group L with ten points and cannot be caught by Burundi (3rd, 3 points) or Malawi (4th, 0 points). With two rounds remaining in the qualifiers, the Stallions now only need to secure first place in the group, particularly in their match against Senegal in the 5th round.
