PAYMENT OF ELECTRICITY DEBT TO NIGERIA : Benin Reduces Its Bill

Benin, Togo, and Niger have reduced their electricity debt to Nigeria. The electricity regulatory commission reported that, for the second quarter of 2024, these three countries made a payment of 9.81 million US dollars, or more than 5 billion 922 million CFA francs, on a total bill of 15.60 million US dollars.

Thus, Benin and its neighbors have reduced their debt to 5.79 million US dollars, thereby ensuring the continued supply of electricity to the populations.
This statement clarifies the situation and reassures the populations by specifying that the observed localized power cuts are not linked to these unpaid bills.
