223 Successful police operation on the night of Saturday, June 20th to Sunday, June 21st, 2026. A motorcycle taxi driver was arrested at the Adjaha district police station for trafficking counterfeit pharmaceuticals.

The arrest took place in Sazué, in the village of Vodomè (Grand-Popo commune). The suspect, who was speeding from the border area on his motorcycle, quickly aroused the suspicions of the Republican Police, who immediately gave chase.

The interception quickly proved fruitful. During a search of the luggage, officers discovered a shipment of 95 kg of counterfeit medicines. The seized products were immediately handed over to the Economic and Financial Brigade (BEF), the unit responsible for conducting the further investigation.

This new record seizure proves that the trafficking of illicit medicines persists in border areas, despite the zero-tolerance policy and relentless war waged by Beninese authorities against this scourge.

Given the danger these products pose to the population, the Republican Police are once again calling for citizen vigilance and urging people to report any suspicious activity. This is a matter of public health.
