YOUTH AND SECURITY: The Dassa-Zoumè Youth Council Strengthens its Partnership with the Republican Police
As part of establishing contact with municipal institutions and strengthening collaborative relationships, a delegation from the Dassa-Zoumè Youth Council was received in audience this Tuesday, June 23, 2026, by the Central Police Commissioner of Dassa-Zoumè.
The delegation consisted of:
Mr. Ruffin Édokpon HESSOU, Mayor of the Dassa-Zoumè Youth Council;
Mr. Karim KOSSOU, PAM (Party of the African and Mediterranean People);
Ms. Houéfa AGOSSADOU, Chief of Staff to the Mayor;
Mr. Candide DEGLA, Chief of Staff to the Mayor of the Youth Council.
This meeting provided an opportunity to present the Dassa-Zoumè Youth Council and the Benin Youth Council Association, their missions, and their commitment to promoting youth, responsible citizenship, and local development.
During the discussions, the Central Commissioner emphasized the crucial role of youth in maintaining security and social peace. He specifically encouraged young people to support security monitoring efforts in the municipality and to actively contribute to crime prevention.
The head of the Republican Police in Dassa-Zoumè also reiterated that all police services are entirely free of charge, urging the public to report any violations. He further reaffirmed his and his colleagues’ commitment to serving and supporting the citizens.
The Chief of Staff to the Youth Mayor, Mr. Candide DEGLA, indicated that this meeting will lead to the upcoming organization of a major feedback and awareness session for the general public and young people in particular.
« The goal is to make young people the eyes and ears of the municipal authorities and a true liaison with the police station regarding security in their community, » he stated.
The toll-free numbers of the Republican Police were reiterated at this meeting: 166 and 117, free lines available to citizens for any emergency or to report a crime.
At the end of the discussions, the Dassa-Zoumè Youth Council warmly thanked the Central Commissioner for his welcome, his attentive listening, and his unwavering commitment to serving the community.
This meeting marks an important step in strengthening collaboration between youth and security forces, with a view to building a safer, more united and more engaged Dassa-Zoumè commune committed to promoting responsible citizenship.
