HORROR IN DÈKOUNGBÉ: Young man arrested after the gruesome murder of his father
A tragedy of unimaginable horror has shaken the Agla Akansôdji neighborhood in the Godomey district. The decapitated body of a man was discovered at his home. The prime suspect: his own son, who is currently in police custody.
Around 4:00 a.m. on the night of Thursday, August 6, 2026, the trap was sprung on the suspect. According to initial findings of the investigation, the young man allegedly tried to recruit an accomplice to help him dispose of his victim’s head.
Escorted by police to the family home, located just behind the neighborhood’s primary school, the young man initially led investigators to the crime scene before abruptly recanting and proclaiming his innocence.
When questioned at the scene, the suspect’s mother initially claimed that her husband had gone to the village to attend a ceremony. However, two troubling details quickly aroused the investigators’ suspicions: the father’s room was locked, and he remained completely reachable.
Returning to the property on Friday, August 7, to thoroughly search the compound, the police made a discovery of absolute horror:
The body: Submerged in a shallow depression located just behind the house, bearing multiple machete wounds.
The head: Carefully concealed in the yard, wrapped in a black plastic bag and hidden under a table.
The analysis quickly confirmed that it was indeed the body of the suspect’s biological father. While the crime scene testifies to extreme violence, the exact motives behind this appalling act remain unknown.
A judicial inquiry into the murder of an ascendant was immediately opened to shed full light on this tragedy, which has plunged Dékoungbè into shock.
